Me.dium launches Social Search!

Yesterday evening we launched our Social Search engine (check it out: me.dium.com/search).

We're really excited about it.  Over two million people have downloaded Me.dium to surf with their friends.  With the combined activity of our user base, we've built the first Crowd-Powered search engine.

What makes Me.dium unique is that our index changes as our users surf the web.  So what's a top result one minute can be supplanted by another the next minute.  The check it out, try the following searches:

Tour de France

Iran

Here is a screenshot of a Barack Obama search from Me.dium.  You can see how we're able to tell you if a page is popular right now, whether crowds are increasing or decreasing, and the pages people usually go to before and after the page:

Obama_results

We are working with Yahoo to ensure that if we don't have results, you'll get Yahoo! quality results as a back-up. Many thanks to the Yahoo! search team who have been awesome to work with.

Rock on!
